Colin Thomas studied at Durham University where he was fascinated with the stone carving at Durham Cathedral. After working in microelectronics for large multinational for over 20 years be finally started to carve, and got hooked. Numerous courses later (from the Orton Trust , Tom Perkins and Woodchester Mansion ) he set up the workshop.

In 2005 he was awarded the Ireson Award from the "men of the stone" society.



Particular interests include celtic knotwork, Egyptian motives (he had located and had recorded 1st dynasty sites in Egypt), and car emblems (he is a Morgan owner & enthusiast).
