The following sundial was
designed
for
a 70th birthday. It is limestone with a slate insert (holding a copper
gnomon), and 23carat gold leafing.
The seven
visible corner triangles
are
each cut with an initial of one of the 3 children and 4 grandchildren
of the person whose birthday the sundial is celebrating.
The three
upward facing octagonal
faces
have the slate insert, a hand carved Tudor rose (for England), and a
gold leafed Maltese cross (for the St John's Ambulance of which she was
member)

The
following garden sundial is constructed from a monolith in Welsh slate. The calibrated sundial, has the Latin motto: "SOL
ME PROBAT UNUS" : Only the sun can prove that I am useful.

for a joint 40th birthday. On the Sundial face is an inscribed Welsh
Dragon. The Sundial has three stainless steel bolts attached to the

designed for a 65th birthday. It is Ancaster Weatherbed limestone with
a slate insert
(holding a brass gnomon), and 23carat gold and copper leafing.In addition there is a hand carved Tudor Rose, and slate
shield with the family surname.

representing Wagner's ring cycle (The recipient being an opera buff). |

The
following is a plinth cut from
sandstone, standing 2 feet tall for a garden sundial. The inscription
(in German) translates as "Hail the Sun !", the flames are in Copper
and 23 carat Gold. The plinth has a hexagonal theme with twelve
triangular faces.

An alternative Garden sundial, is an Analemmatic one
than is placed on the ground, and the gnomon (pointer) is the
individual who stands on it, casting a shadow onto an series of markers
to read off the time. An example is shown below:
